Abhay Deol’s eccentric charm
Bipasha Basu’s exotic beauty
Crushing on someone new... ‘discovering the hotness’ as I described it in my last post...
Danny Denzongpa’s over-the-top villainry (can't believe someone other than Dharmendra came to mind)
Esha Deol’s slightly manic edge (one of very few things I like about Miss Deol)
Farah Khan's irreverent humour (her brother takes it a bit too far though)
Genelia’s flashlight eyes (yes, flashlight eyes)
Hema Malini’s strength and grace
Imran Khan’s cute grin
Juhi Chawla’s marvellous comic timing
Karisma Kapoor’s zest and energy (I actually miss her)
Lisa Ray’s straight sleekness
Manisha Koirala’s rebellious spirit (misdirected? What do you think?)
Nandita Das’s flawless brown skin
Om Puri’s cleverness and depth
Parveen Babi’s lush glamour
Quiz time – For $1 million Dharam-dollars: Have you seen ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ yet? (‘Cos I feel like I’m the only person on the planet who hasn’t – must remedy that this weekend!)
Rani Mukherjee’s husky tones (someone, anyone, please give this woman a great role she can sink her teeth into... and please do it soon!)
SRK’s quirky self-awareness
Tabu’s... poised awkwardness (makes no sense, I know, but it's the only way I can describe it)
Urmila Matondkar’s quiet individuality
Vinod Khanna’s lovely brown eyes
Waheeda Rehman’s whimsical beauty
Xcellent performances by the most surprising people... love it when this happens. Would love to hear about some performances you've found surprisingly good – please comment!
Y are Yash Raj churning out such lacklustre films these days? Get it together, Adi!
Zeenat Aman’s irrespressible sexiness - there's never been anyone quite like her, has there?

verrrry nice list, DG!!!! :-D
I feel you on Parveen's glamour, i've been into her a lot lately such a pity with how things ended.
Karisma's energy really came to me when i saw her perform Le gayi le gayi in Dil to pagal hai, i didn't care much for her before that (which i guess would be my xcellent performances by the most surprising people).
And Urmila i looooooooooove her, she stole my heart ever since i watched her dance Chamma Chamma, the intensity of the choreography + how she handled it made me name her 'Urmila the great'
Thanks memsaab! :)
bollywooddeewana, thanks for the comment. Incidentally, like you I didn't care much for Karisma until I saw her in Dil To Pagal Hai - she gave such a great performance and her dancing was fantastic - she held her own opposite the marvellous Ms. Dixit, and that's no mean feat! That film turned me into a Lolo fan (funny enough, Lolo was one of my childhood nicknames, and a couple of people still call me that!)
I have to see more of Urmila's work - I like her but I haven't seen much of her... it's a shame she's now doing bad movies opposite Himesh...
G and W : Muaaahhhh !!!
Loved the word 'Flashlights'
for X most recent is Mahie Gill's performance in DevD. Surprising, yet awesome.
Hello!
It's been some time, but, when I arrive: what a nice list. I especially loved your praise of Rani (I chime in, please, someone!), Waheeda Rehmann and Tabu: "poised awkwardness" hum - yes, that's very nicely put! She's awkward, you're right. For me it's a sort of shyness, a calculated one, perhaps, because she knows what she's doing. And that poise: that's maturity. She doesn't want to be in "Bollywood" anymore, I'd say. She wants to act, to be the best actress she can.
cheers
So, I stumbled on your blog a while ago and have to say you make learning the alphabets so much more fun.
E is for Elephant vs E is for Esha Deol's manic edge. And I agree with you too, Ankahee is about the only movie that I've liked her in. She was just so awesomely nuts
I just had to stop by and check out your blog! What a fantastic job you've done, and this post was great! Can't wait to come back and see more.
@darshit: Thanks for your comment... I haven't seen Dev D yet but I can't wait to do so. Mahie is gorgeous in all the pictures I've seen, I'm looking forward to seeing her act.
@yves: I really like that... calculated shyness. I agree, I think Tabu is very sure of what she wants.
@ay: I agree, she did a good job with 'Ankahee', although it was a pretty badly-done film - she is not a conventional girl(despite being the daughter of very conventional heroine!) so roles that give her a bit of 'edge' and grit really work best for her, I think. Thanks for stopping by!
@shell: Thank you so much! I've grown very lazy with this blog, but you've inspired me. Love your blog, keep up the great work.
Very good list. Enjoyed it! Keep it up
