I am very partial to Jaya, and I think sometimes I probably go a little OTT in my appreciation of her work because I just love her so much.

I do love 'Abhimaan' and 'Anupama', the latter is better than the former but both are lovelt... 'Bawarchi' is probably one of my least favourite Mukherjee films though... not a fan of Rajesh Khanna's performance in that films.Daddy's Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14679564351145843434noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36123519.post-88289142723744732232011-03-31T05:58:54.886+01:002011-03-31T05:58:54.886+01:00Nice, long, nicely illustrated review and some scr...Nice, long, nicely illustrated review and some screencaps are good fun esp together with your words.

I don't rate the film as high though:
- Jaya plays sometimes little-girlyish, sometimes very stiff, it is confusing and remains so until the end; amazing he wants to marry this unstable kid
- music drags and is visualized most uninspiredly
- look behind the Bollywood scene doesn't reveal much

I feel for a *fun* Mukherjee better see Bawarchi, for *drama* better see Anupama (or, if in need, Abhimaan).

Anyway Jaya Badhuri is delightfully fresh here.Hans Meierhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04675553770565339630noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36123519.post-13961639811808034652007-04-25T19:30:00.000+01:002007-04-25T19:30:00.000+01:00@maja: I adore Jaya's acting - the more I see of h...@maja: I adore Jaya's acting - the more I see of her, the more I want to see. She's so fab in her older flicks. I'd also recommend her in 'Mili' and 'Abhimaan', both of which are also Mukherjee films.

@set: LOL Glad to know you're a Nollywood convert (was it the dodgy vcds that ruined your tv?) Hmm, I'll go out on a limb and say that if you can appreciate Nigerian cinema (and you enjoy music, dance, drama, romance and a bit of ridiculousness), you're a good candidate for Hindi films. Hmm... what makes a person a good candidate for Bollywood anyway? I love her acting so much (although you know I'm gonna say people should 'see this movie for Jaya, Jaya and Dharmendra' right? LOL). All I can add is see this movie for Jaya, Jaya & Jaya ;) I am such a huge fan of hers and love it when others discover that she was an amazing actress capable of grace & style long before the 'mom roles' of Khabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Two other Jaya faves of mine are Uphaar & Kora Kagaz, both more serious but great movies with incredible soundtracks. Awaara - watching incredible classics such as this you will wonder, why can't they make movies like this anymore?Sanket Vyashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00410998671085464946noreply@blogger.com
