So movie names will be a bit more helpful.

Totally agree with u about Dharam-sharmila jodi being no 1.

Aas Pas was okay considerng it is a 1980 movie. wouldn't recommend the movie to anyone tho.

Hema/AB and Hema/VK jodi is good. I wish Hema and VK did more movies together in their hey days. They were good in Kudrat and Meera.Filmbuffnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36123519.post-45872944603492970172011-07-08T13:07:20.310+01:002011-07-08T13:07:20.310+01:00Hi Filmbuff, yes the vast majority of our movies a...Hi Filmbuff, yes the vast majority of our movies are in English... I'm a bit out-of-date with Nollywood movies (I don't watch them often nowadays), but I can suggest some good actors whose movies are usually worth seeing - Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Kate Henshaw-Nuttall, Stella Damasus, Richard Mofe-Damijo... I can get some movie names as well, I will come back with those.
Thanks for the tip on Sharmila's IIFA speech... will definitely look out for it. Much as I enjoy the Dharam/Hema pairing, my favourite 'Dharam jodi' is Dharam/Sharmila.
But I totally agree with you on Dharam/Hema - always good eye candy! Enjoy!Daddy's Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14679564351145843434noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36123519.post-1208147905323925192011-07-08T01:06:55.328+01:002011-07-08T01:06:55.328+01:00By the same token I have not watched any movies fr...By the same token I have not watched any movies from Nigeria. There is a shop specialising in selling things from Africa just near my work place and they have quite a few nigerian movies on display. I was browsing through them and was surprised to know that most of them are in English! Can u recommend some good movies so that I could borrow some and expand my knowledge on African cinema?

I have been looking for Sparsh in diff cities everytime I visited India for so many yrs. I couldn't curtail my excitement and happiness, hence shared it on ur blog. I checked the songs from Aas Pas and they are quite good - Dharam/ Hema jodi is good eye candy - i can always sit through if the movie itself is not very interesting

BTW, Sharmila Tagore paid a great tribute to Dharam as a co star in her acceptance speech at IIFA. Dharam too was given an award for 50 yrs in Industry. Sharmila spoke quite a bit in English so would not be so hard to follow. I don't know if these DVDs have english subs

CheersFilmbuffnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36123519.post-13844605991820374582011-07-07T13:46:55.175+01:002011-07-07T13:46:55.175+01:00@bollywooddeewana: Thanks so much, I was worried t...@bollywooddeewana: Thanks so much, I was worried that I would bore people with such a long post, but it was a great show and I just wanted to share the experience, especially since it was my very first time at an industry event.

@filmbuff: Thanks! I would have liked to go to the awards as well, but after enjoying IIFA Rocks, I really couldn't feel bad about missing the awards. I had such a good time.
I love stories about finding things in unexpected places. How cool to get those DVDs for $1 each!! Especially 'Sparsh'! I've been wanting to buy 'Sparsh' for a long time and have been watching it on eBay, but it's always pretty expensive... so glad you got such a great bargain!! Nicki (www.kimnicki.com; her Indian movie blog is at www.apunbindaas.blogspot.com) watches Korean movies and has some good recommendations on her blog, if you ever decide to pick some up. I don't think I've ever watched a Korean film, but I would like to....Daddy's Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14679564351145843434noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36123519.post-11313673257823115772011-07-07T08:09:39.839+01:002011-07-07T08:09:39.839+01:00Thanks for a great write up. Having seen the actual IIFA awards on DVD, I can say you have attended the better function in terms of enjoying some good music from SEL and singers like Sonu Nigam. The awards show was sooooo boring!

The fashion show also seems interesting and varied - Sabyasachi is a good desinger indeed

Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

Wanted to share an interesing experience with you. I was walking around the place during lunch time showing some good spots to a new colleague when we noticed a sale going on in a temporarily rented basement kind of shop. To my surprise I saw a box of DVDs for a dolar each. Most of them were korean and chinese movies but I found a few hindi ones too. What is amazing is that I found a copy of Sparsh that I have been looking for in india for a decade now. I also found Dharm / Hema's Aas Pas. I quickly grabbed these along with RGV's Shiva from the 90s.

i would have grabbed some korean movies had i known which ones are good - titles were all in korean (unlike the hindi movies) so had to let goFilmbuffnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36123519.post-51473393869436173322011-07-01T23:42:54.271+01:002011-07-01T23:42:54.271+01:00wow what an experience, I love your write up, it a...wow what an experience, I love your write up, it actually made me feel like I WAS THERE, GUESS IT SHOWS HOW MUCH ENJOYED ITbollywooddeewanahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04916533314639410268noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36123519.post-57048649262989783132011-06-30T18:04:25.399+01:002011-06-30T18:04:25.399+01:00@Shell, we are sisters! I was so impressed with how S-E-L and their band maintained their energy throughout the night... awesome. I actually surprised myself with my interest in the fashion aspect of the show - I'm not much of a fashion person either, but I loved the clothes!

@Nicki, I thought of you when I saw Bipasha! She is SO beautiful, and her abs are to die for LOL!! I was surprised to see how petite she is in real life. It looks amazing! I'm not a huge fashion type person, but who can argue the clothes were beautiful! I would have loved to see S-E-L, who are favorites of mine, as well as Sonu!

I absolutely adore Anushka! I think she is one of the most uniquely beautiful new film actresses today. I was happy to see her at the awards as well, although there was certainly a little, shall we say, dirty looks headed Ranveer's way. Sonakshi also is stunning! Such a regalness about her.

It looks like you had a great time! No matter what the events were, IIFA, in any capacity, was not to be missed!Shelliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08758282383525747870noreply@blogger.com
